SafeLog (working name)

Idea status: Idea stage · Target: an MRR ladder ($1k → $50k by month 24) instead of one fixed number · Verdict: No as described. Go small, as COR and SECOR audit evidence for Alberta employers, sold through safety consultants. · Last updated: 30 Sept 2026

Start here → WHAT-TO-DO-AND-AVOID.md: odds at each MRR level (with conditions, ~15 hrs/week vs full-time: $1k ~45% / 60%, $5k ~18% / 30%, $10k ~8% / 16%, $20k ~3% / 7%), customer math, 12 do's, 14 avoids, checkpoints.

Where this idea came from: the 30 Sept 2026 micro-SaaS idea catalog, row E2 ("Safety-compliance forms for contractors"), in ../_research/2026-09-30-micro-saas-idea-catalog.md. Its evidence is SiteDocs (~$16.8M ARR, a Latka estimate) and Nemetschek's purchase of GoCanvas at ~11.5x its $67M 2023 ARR. The catalog named two solo starting points:

  • OSHA 300/300A/301 injury logs plus the electronic submission to OSHA's Injury Tracking Application (ITA), for small US employers;
  • COR audit-evidence packs for one Canadian province.

This assessment scores both and picks one: COR/SECOR in Alberta. See analysis/02.

"SafeLog" is a working name. Check trademark and domain before using it publicly. Note also that "COR" and "SECOR" are trademarks of their owners in Alberta. The product can say it helps with them, but it can't use them in its own name.

Research was run on 30 Sept 2026, with a confidence level on each claim. See research/10-verified-research.md.

Caveat

Team, location, hours per week available and Alberta safety contacts were not provided. The assumptions are in analysis/09. Three things are still unverified and could change the verdict (see research/10):

  1. whether SiteDocs, Safety Evolution or other Canadian tools already map evidence to the Alberta audit tool at small-employer prices;
  2. whether the certifying partners' audit instruments can be referenced in a product without a licence;
  3. how many Alberta safety consultants run COR/SECOR programs for small clients, and what they would pay.
