RentReady (was "Equipment rental software for one sub-vertical")
Idea status: Idea stage · Target: MRR ladder by month 24 ($1k → $50k) · Verdict: No as described. Conditional Go only as a survey-ready rental-fleet log for small US DME suppliers, and only with a DME insider. Otherwise No. · Last updated: 30 Sept 2026
Start here → WHAT-TO-DO-AND-AVOID.md for the final call: the odds at each MRR level, the customer math, what to do, what to avoid, and the checkpoints.
Where this idea came from: the 30 Sept 2026 micro-SaaS idea catalog, idea E9, which the catalog itself marks weaker because the category is crowded (../_research/2026-09-30-micro-saas-idea-catalog.md). Its evidence is Point of Rental ($76.5M ARR in 2024, Latka estimate, founded 1982, no outside funding). The starting idea was rental-management software for one narrow equipment-rental sub-vertical: inventory and availability, bookings, delivery and pickup, damage and maintenance, and compliance tracking. The sub-vertical wasn't given, so this assessment scores five (party and tent, DME, construction tools for small yards, bike and e-bike, camera and film gear) and picks one. See analysis/02.
Excluded: AV and event rental (Rentman's home ground) and the fire-extinguisher trade (covered in ../tradeledger/).

Caveat
Team, geography, hours per week available and DME access were never provided. The assumptions are in analysis/09. The number of small DME suppliers that rent equipment (not just sell supplies), their current tools, and their willingness to pay for a log that sits beside billing are unverified (see research/10).
