One-Page Brief

Verdict

As described, StoreComply is a back-office Shopify app for regulatory information: EU GPSR product-safety blocks, age and regulatory warnings such as Prop 65, and B2B, wholesale and customs documents, sold first to merchants selling into the EU. It has a ~3% chance of $10k MRR by month 24, and Tier A (venture) odds under 0.5%. It is not fundable, and doesn't need to be.

Narrowed to one wedge, GPSR catalogue compliance for multi-brand EU retailers, the odds rise to about 9% (~15 hrs/week) or 17% (full-time) at $10k, and 45% / 60% at $1k, if the conditions in WHAT-TO-DO-AND-AVOID.md are met. There is no verified base rate for new Shopify apps or bootstrapped B2B micro-SaaS. The full ladder is in 01.

The five things that matter

  1. The obvious version already exists 15 times. At least 15 Shopify apps show GPSR data on product pages. Most charge $8–15 and have a free plan. The best-reviewed GPSR-only app has 29 reviews after two years. 10+ launched in 2026 with zero, and two have already been delisted (10, R4). A generic GPSR block is a commodity with thin demand.
  2. Most merchants solve GPSR once, for free. Shopify tells merchants to use its native "Disclosures" metafield for warnings. A single-brand store enters one manufacturer and one responsible person, and it's done. The job that recurs belongs to multi-brand retailers: hundreds of SKUs, dozens of brands, new stock every week, and marketplaces that must block listings without the data.
  3. Compliance installs come in deadline waves, and the current waves are taken. The EU withdrawal button (19 June 2026) produced a leader with 2,311 reviews. Revoq launched 3 months before that deadline and has 561 today. The GARAN guarantee-label wave (2026) already has 8+ apps. The growth engine is being live and Built for Shopify 3–6 months before the next deadline.
  4. The economics are excellent, but the prices are small. Shopify takes 0% on the first $1M of lifetime revenue (then 15%), plus a 2.9% processing fee. Hosting costs almost nothing, so margins run above 90%. But the category price norm is $10–15/month, so $10k MRR means about 335 paying merchants even at a $30 blended price.
  5. B2B documents is the bigger prize and the wrong start. Sufio (invoices, PEPPOL e-invoicing) is estimated at $1.6M revenue in 2024 (Latka). But it has a 13-year head start, 466 reviews and the Built for Shopify badge. It is a year-2 option at best, and only after the e-invoicing mandate dates are verified.

Feature sort (headline)

  • Table stakes: the GPSR storefront block, manufacturer and responsible-person profiles, bulk editing, EU language translations, a free plan.
  • Real differentiator candidates: a supplier request portal (brands fill in their own GPSR data), a catalogue gap scan that runs on every new SKU, vendor-rule auto-assignment, and marketplace-ready exports.
  • Distractions: Prop 65 as a product, the withdrawal button, B2B and customs documents in year 1, and accessibility widgets.
  • Liabilities: any "guaranteed compliant" claim, AI-written safety warnings shipped without human review, acting as the EU responsible person yourself, and e-invoicing without a certified access-point partner.

Most likely cause of death

Invisible in a clone category. The app launches as number 16 in a GPSR search. It never reaches 5 reviews and 50 paid installs, so it never gets the Built for Shopify badge, never ranks, and stays at 20 installs a month. Early warning: fewer than 30 installs in the first 60 days after listing.

Next 90 days

Do: talk to 20 multi-brand EU retailers. Sell 5 of them a paid "GPSR catalogue fill" done by hand (CSV in, metafields out). Build only the gap scan, vendor rules, supplier portal and storefront block. Build to Built for Shopify standards from day 1. Stop: building Prop 65, withdrawal-button or customs-document features, and any plan to cover "all merchants selling into the EU".
