7. What's Missing: The Gap Between Built and Paid, Renewed, Referred

Assumption: nothing is built yet. These are gaps between the idea and a business.

7.1 Gaps to pay

GapWhy it blocks paymentFix
No defined buyer"Agencies" means competing with AgencyAnalytics for every agencyUS agencies serving home-services contractors whose clients run Jobber or Housecall Pro.
No reason to switchThe described product is what agencies already haveDon't ask them to switch. Sell an add-on report for the clients where proof of jobs matters.
No pricing modelUndefined. The catalog range ($30–400/month) is the incumbents' range.$19 per client per month, $99 minimum, annual at 10× monthly. Founding agencies $15 per client, locked 12 months.
No quantified value promise"Beautiful automated reports" doesn't justify a second subscription"Show every client how many jobs and dollars their ads produced, and keep the clients who'd otherwise leave." Instrument saves from day one.
Trust in the numbersAgencies won't send a report with a wrong revenue figureShow match confidence, the unmatched queue, and an audit log of overrides.
Onboarding frictionEach contractor must authorise Jobber or Housecall ProOne OAuth link per client that the agency forwards, with a two-line explanation for the contractor.

7.2 Gaps to renew

GapFix
Seasonality (HVAC and roofing have slow months)Year-on-year comparisons, and the "leads you didn't book" page, which matters most in slow months.
Downstream churn (the agency loses clients)Per-client pricing means you shrink with them. The agency roll-up view flags at-risk clients early, which helps the agency keep them.
Silent data gapsPre-send checks for sudden zeros and expired tokens, and a connector health page.
No switching costMatch history, overrides, year-on-year baselines and job-type mapping build up per client. Leaving means losing the history.
AI makes it "free"Price for reliable monthly matching, not for writing. Keep AI cost per report under $0.10.

7.3 Gaps to refer

GapFix
Nothing visible to other agenciesA small "Report by ReportRelay" footer, off by default on paid plans, on for trials.
No free hookA free one-off booked-jobs report for one client from uploaded CSVs (CallRail + Jobber or Housecall Pro + Google Ads). It's also your sales demo.
No communityPublish an anonymised quarterly "cost per booked job by trade" benchmark from customer data (with consent). Agencies share it with prospects.
No referral economicsOne month free for each referred paying agency.

7.4 Non-product gaps

Distribution

  • Missing entirely from the idea. The catalog lists SEO, G2 and Capterra, and agency communities, but those are where the incumbents are strongest.
  • Channels that fit the wedge: your own network of home-services agencies, home-services agency communities and coaching groups, the Jobber App Marketplace (listing requirements unverified), niche SEO ("cost per booked job HVAC", "LSA report template", "plumbing marketing report"), and partnerships with agency coaches.
  • Channels that burn cash: Google Ads on "agency reporting software" (bidding against incumbents), and G2 or Capterra paid placement before you have reviews.

Positioning

  • Current: "white-label reporting dashboards for agencies". Generic, and a copy of the leader.
  • Better: "Booked-job reports for home-services agencies. Show every client the jobs and dollars their ads produced."
  • One sentence, one buyer, one outcome.

Sales motion

  • Founder-led for the first 25 agencies: a call, a hand-built report for one of their clients, then a trial.
  • Product-led after that: the free one-off report, the marketplace listing and niche SEO.

API access and platform terms

AreaRequirement
Google Ads APIA developer token. Explorer (2,880 ops/day on production) is enough for a pilot. Basic (15,000 ops/day) needs brand verification. Standard (unlimited) needs a manual audit of ~10 business days. Plan for Basic by month 3.
Meta Marketing APIApp review for the ads-read permissions (details not checked this run). Watch the changelog; attribution windows were removed on 12 Jan 2026 and data retention limits were added.
JobberDeveloper app with OAuth 2.0. Listing in the App Marketplace needs Jobber's review (terms unverified). Date-versioned GraphQL.
Housecall ProPublic API. Full access is tied to the MAX plan, or to third-party companies building an integration (partner terms unverified). This could block contractors on cheaper plans. Confirm before promising it.
CallRailAPI access per account (terms not checked).

Data privacy

AreaRequirement
Homeowner dataPhone numbers, names and addresses from call tracking and field-service systems are personal data. Store hashed phone numbers and job totals only.
US state privacy lawsCCPA/CPRA and similar laws apply to the agency's clients' customers. You're a service provider: sign a data processing addendum with agencies.
HealthcareStay out. Lead and call data in healthcare can be health information under HIPAA.
AIDon't send homeowner personal data to the model. Send aggregates only.

Team

  • Not provided. For this wedge you need, at minimum, one developer comfortable with OAuth, GraphQL and REST APIs and messy data matching, and one person with home-services agency experience. Without the second, discovery and distribution will stall.

Metrics and instrumentation

  • Minimum set: activation (first report sent with ≥1 matched job within 7 days), match rate, reports sent per agency per month, M1/M3 paid retention, trial-to-paid, support tickets per 10 agencies, connector failure rate, saves reported by agencies.
