3. Feature-by-Feature Scrutiny (The Idea as Stated)

Categories:

  • Table stakes (TS): customers expect it. It earns nothing, but its absence costs you.
  • Differentiator (D): a real reason to choose you over the alternatives.
  • Distraction (X): built but unlikely to move revenue or retention.
  • Liability (L): creates support, compliance, legal or trust risk.

Some elements sit in two buckets. The primary bucket comes first. The idea came from the catalog as one line, so the "features" below are the elements that line implies.

3.1 Classification table

#Stated elementCategoryReasoning
1White-label branding (agency logo, colours, custom domain, custom email)TSAgencyAnalytics, DashThis, Whatagraph and Swydo all include it. WhatConverts sells it as a $50 add-on. Without it you're not in the category. With it, you're one of 30.
2Google Ads connectorTSEvery tool has it. Local Services Ads lead data (via the Google Ads API's local_services_lead resource) is more useful for home services, but AgencyAnalytics already reports LSA leads, calls, cost per lead and charge status.
3Meta Ads connectorTS / LEvery tool has it. It's also the most fragile: Meta removed the 7-day and 28-day view attribution windows on 12 Jan 2026, and the fields returned empty data without an error. Reports that relied on them dropped 15–40% in conversions overnight (secondary estimate). You own that breakage the day you ship the connector.
4GA4 connectorTSExpected for any agency that also does SEO or web work. It earns nothing on its own. For home services it's secondary: contractors care about calls and jobs, not sessions. Ship it in phase 2.
5"And similar" sources (a broad connector list)X / LConnector count is the incumbents' game: 85+ at AgencyAnalytics, 34+ at DashThis, 38+ at Swydo. Each connector means OAuth breakage, API version sunsets and support tickets. Pick six and make them excellent.
6Live dashboardsTSExpected, but in this niche the finished monthly report matters more than a dashboard the contractor never opens. A simple live link is enough. A drag-and-drop builder is a distraction (Looker Studio does it free).
7Automatic scheduled branded reports (PDF, link, email)TSThe core promise of the category, and solved by every incumbent. Make it reliable (no report goes out with silent gaps), not novel.
8"Marketing agencies" as the buyer (all types)LPositioning, not a feature, but the root problem. It puts you head-to-head with a $20-per-client leader and free tools, with no message of your own. Narrow to one niche.
9AI-written commentary (the catalog notes it's "now expected as standard")TSAgencyAnalytics, DashThis, Whatagraph and Swydo include it, and official Google Ads and Meta MCP servers let agencies get it from Claude or ChatGPT free. It becomes D only when it talks about jobs and revenue for a contractor, grounded in joined data no general tool has.

3.2 Scoreboard

CategoryCountElements
Table stakes6White-label, Google Ads, Meta, GA4, dashboards, scheduled reports (and AI commentary as generally built)
Differentiator0None of the stated elements, as described
Distraction1A broad connector list
Liability2"All agencies" positioning, the Meta connector's silent breakage (if unmonitored)

None of what's described is a reason to buy. It's the incumbents' product, launched a decade later. The differentiators all come from the wedge in doc 04: lead-to-job matching, cost per booked job, the "leads you didn't book" page, and contractor-language commentary.

3.3 Feature bloat and "building to avoid selling": explicit call-outs

  1. A long connector list. It feels like progress and demos well, and it's permanent upkeep that never catches the leader.
  2. A drag-and-drop dashboard builder. Months of front-end work to rebuild what Looker Studio gives away.
  3. AI features as the headline. Easy to build, impressive in a demo, and free elsewhere. It avoids the harder question: will an agency pay for a second tool?
  4. A client portal with logins, comments and tasks. Agencies want a report the owner reads in two minutes, not another app for the contractor.

3.4 What a disciplined v1 looks like

Keep: Google Ads with LSA leads + CallRail + Jobber, lead-to-job matching by phone number, one report template per trade, cost per booked job by channel, the "leads you didn't book" page, white-label PDF and link, and a contractor-language summary. Next: Housecall Pro, Meta Ads, Google Business Profile, then GA4 and Search Console. Cut: dashboard builder, long connector list, SEO rank tracking, client portal, mobile app, ServiceTitan.
