4. Expanded Feature Catalog (What Agencies Ask For)
These are features agencies ask for in site monitoring and care-plan tooling, each classified with the same honesty as the catalogued list in 03. Being in demand doesn't mean you should build it. Most of these demands are already met by Oh Dear, WP Umbrella, ManageWP, UptimeRobot or Better Stack.
Demand signals are the analyst's reading of competitor feature pages and agency-tool positioning, not a verified survey.
Legend: TS = Table stakes, D = Differentiator, X = Distraction, L = Liability. Priority: P0 = v1 of the recommended wedge, P1 = next, P2 = later, — = don't build.
4.1 Form and lead delivery (the wedge, so lean in)
| Feature | Category | Priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily test submission through each contact and quote form | D | P0 | The core. Run from 2 regions, with a retry before alerting. |
| Companion WordPress plugin that allowlists signed test submissions (Gravity Forms, WPForms, Contact Form 7, Elementor Forms) | D | P0 | Gets past CAPTCHA honestly and tags test entries so they never clutter the client's inbox or CRM. |
| Inbox arrival check (catch address or a scoped mail rule forwarding tagged tests) | D | P0 | "Submitted" is not "delivered". This is the difference from uptime tools. |
| Failure reason (form error, no email, email to spam, bounce, timeout) | D | P0 | Agencies need the "why" to fix it in minutes. |
| Passive silence alert (tracking address, alert when real submissions drop below the site's normal rate) | D (weak) | P0 | Covers Webflow, HubSpot, Typeform and embeds. FormPulse already does this. |
| Real-lead counter (count only, never content) | D | P0 | Powers the monthly report without touching personal data. |
| CRM arrival check (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce test contact found via API, then deleted) | D | P1 | Many lead forms feed a CRM, not an inbox. Start with HubSpot. |
| Email authentication check for the notification sender (SPF, DKIM, DMARC alignment) | D | P1 | A common reason form emails land in spam. Diagnostic, cheap to add. |
| Booking-form journey (Calendly, Acuity, a WordPress booking plugin) | D / X | P2 | Only if dental and clinic agencies ask. Brittle. |
| 15-minute tests on key forms | TS | P1 | Agency Plus. Most forms need daily, not minute-level. |
| Headless CAPTCHA solving | L | — | Breaks provider terms, flaky, looks like an attack. Plugin allowlist only. |
| Storing lead contents for "proof" | L | — | Personal data of the client's customers. Count arrivals only. |
4.2 Site health basics (bundle, never sell alone)
| Feature | Category | Priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uptime checks (5-minute) | TS | P0 | Free to include, 35+ competitors. |
| SSL expiry and chain errors | TS | P0 | Shorter certificate lifetimes make renewal failures more frequent. |
| Domain expiry (RDAP/WHOIS) | TS | P0 | Client-owned registrars lapse. |
| DNS and MX record change alerts | TS / D | P0 | An MX change is a classic silent killer of form emails, so it ties the basics to the wedge. |
| Keyword / content check ("Thank you" text present) | TS | P1 | Oh Dear already does it. |
| Response-time graphs | TS | P2 | Expected, not valued. |
| Broken-link crawling | X | — | Oh Dear, SEO tools. |
| Lighthouse / performance scores | X | — | WP Umbrella, Oh Dear, PageSpeed. |
| Accessibility scanning | X | — | Its own product (see AccessCheck in this portfolio). |
| Cron / heartbeat monitoring | X | — | Healthchecks.io and Oh Dear. |
4.3 Agency workflow
| Feature | Category | Priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-client dashboard (group forms by client and site) | TS | P0 | Expected. |
| White-label monthly PDF / email report (agency logo, "forms tested, failures caught, fix time, leads delivered") | D | P0 | The retention engine. Oh Dear and WP Umbrella have reports, but not this content. |
| Slack, Teams and email alerts | TS | P0 | Email and Slack first. |
| Alert routing per client (the agency first; the client optional) | TS | P1 | Agencies want to fix before the client hears. |
| SMS and phone alerts | TS | P1 | Agency Plus only, pass-through cost. |
| Maintenance windows (pause tests during site work) | TS | P1 | Stops false alarms that erode trust. |
| Bulk import of sites from WP Umbrella, ManageWP or MainWP exports | D | P1 | Cuts onboarding from an hour to minutes. Worth more than any new check. |
| Client portal (client logs in to see their own status) | X | P2 | Agencies prefer to control the message. The report covers it. |
| Team seats and roles | TS | P1 | Unlimited seats, like WP Umbrella. |
| Zapier / webhook out | TS | P2 | For agencies with their own ticketing. |
| Reseller billing (agency invoices the client via you) | X / L | — | Agencies bill care plans themselves. Holding their clients' payments adds risk for no gain. |
4.4 Status pages and incidents
| Feature | Category | Priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hosted public status page per client | X | — | Local-business clients have no audience for it. |
| White-label status page on a custom domain | X | — | Sold by UptimeRobot ($35) and Better Stack. |
| On-call rota and escalation | X | — | Better Stack and Hyperping. Agencies don't run on-call for brochure sites. |
| Incident timelines and post-mortems | X | — | Engineering-team product. |
| SiteWarden's own status page | TS | P0 | For your trust, not as a feature to sell. |
4.5 AI features
| Feature | Category | Priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI-written plain-English failure explanation in the report ("Your SMTP plugin's password expired on 3 Sept") | D (small) | P2 | Only from structured failure reasons. Cheap, and clients read it. |
| AI "site health score" | X / L | — | A made-up number invites argument. |
| AI incident summaries | X | — | Better Stack territory. |
4.6 Net effect
Of about 40 features, about 9 are real differentiators for the form-monitoring wedge, and 13 belong in v1 (the P0 rows: 6 form-delivery features, 4 bundled basics, the dashboard, the monthly report and alerts), plus SiteWarden's own status page, which is for trust rather than for sale. Everything else is table stakes to add slowly, or other companies' products.
