JobPulse (working name)

Idea status: Idea stage · Target: an MRR ladder ($1k → $50k) instead of one fixed number · Verdict: No as described. Go, small, as backup monitoring and backup proof for small MSPs · Last updated: 30 Sept 2026

Start here → WHAT-TO-DO-AND-AVOID.md: odds at each MRR level (with conditions: $1k ~45–60%, $5k ~18–30%, $10k ~9–17%, $20k ~4–8%), 12 do's, 14 avoids, checkpoints.

Where this came from. This idea is C1 in the 30 Sept 2026 micro-SaaS idea catalog ("Alerts when a scheduled job or backup fails to run"). It was not a feature list supplied by a founder, so there's no stated team, price or traction. See analysis/09.

Name. "JobPulse" is a working name. Check trademark and domain before using it publicly. If you take the recommended wedge, a name that says "backups" will sell better to MSPs than one that says "jobs". Check that name too.

The idea in one line (as described): heartbeat monitoring for scheduled jobs and backups. Each job pings a unique URL when it runs. If a ping doesn't arrive on time, the user gets an email, Slack or SMS alert.

The idea in one line (recommended): one screen that shows every client's backups for a small managed service provider (MSP, 1–20 staff). It reads the backup reports that Veeam, Acronis, Synology and others already email out, adds a ping URL for scripts, alerts and opens a ticket when a backup fails or goes quiet, and produces a monthly backup report and restore-test log that the MSP can hand to its client or the client's cyber insurer.

Research was run on 30 Sept 2026, with a confidence level on each claim. See research/10-verified-research.md.

Caveat

Team, hours per week available, geography, price and traction were never provided. The assumptions are in analysis/09. Small-MSP willingness to pay for a separate backup-monitoring tool, the number and size of MSPs, which backup products small MSPs use, MSP-tool churn rates, and the cyber-insurer "restore-test log" requirement are still unverified (see research/10). There is no verified base rate for new developer-tool or MSP-tool micro-SaaS reaching a given MRR.
