6. Fundability

6.1 Would I invest at pre-seed or seed?

Pre-seed: No. Not as described, and not as the recommended wedge either.

  • The category has free leaders (Trustindex, Elfsight, EmbedSocial), $3-per-client white-label (Repuso), and bundles (GoHighLevel).
  • The data belongs to Google, under terms that cap storage at 30 days and ban aggregation.
  • The widget can be cloned in an afternoon (EmbedSocial, 29 Sept 2026).
  • The best-known success in the niche, ReviewsOnMyWebsite, peaked at $41–49.5K a month and then was acquired or rebranded. That's a good lifestyle outcome, not a venture one.

Seed: No. Even at $20k MRR, there's no path to a venture outcome without becoming a Birdeye-style suite with a sales team, and that's a different company.

6.2 What a skeptical investor says in the first five minutes

  1. "Trustindex is free and has a million installs. Why would anyone pay you?"
  2. "Repuso does white-label for $3 a client, and GoHighLevel bundles it. What's left?"
  3. "Google owns the data. What happens when they change the Business Profile API terms, or ship their own embed?"
  4. "Your founder-story comparable topped out under $50k a month and got folded into another brand. Why is your ceiling higher?"
  5. "Honest-by-default means you refuse the feature customers ask for most. How does that grow?"
  6. "What stops a two-person agency tool from cloning your report in a weekend with AI?"
  7. "Who are your first 20 agencies, and why do they know you?"

If you can't answer 1, 2 and 7 crisply, the rest doesn't matter.

6.3 Proof points that would change the answer (for a small angel round at most)

#Proof pointThresholdWhy it matters
1Agencies pay for the outcome, not the widget≥60 agency accounts at ≥$90 ARPU, logo churn ≤2%/month for 6 monthsShows the report + requests bundle is a care-plan staple, not a nice-to-have.
2Measured review lift per clientMedian client goes from <2 to ≥5 new Google reviews a month within 90 daysThat's the number agencies resell. It's also your only honest marketing claim.
3Growth that doesn't need you≥40% of new agencies from referral, partner directories or the free plan's "Powered by" linkProves the ReviewsOnMyWebsite loop still works in 2026.
4Google risk retiredWritten confirmation (from Google or counsel) that the display model fits the Business Profile API termsRemoves the platform-kill scenario.

6.4 Bootstrap or raise?

Bootstrap. Only bootstrap.

  • It's cheap to build. The API, a widget script, email/SMS sending, PDF reports and a dashboard: 6–10 weeks for one developer.
  • Running costs are low. The Business Profile API has no per-call fee once approved, and SMS is passed through. Gross margin is ~85%.
  • The realistic outcome is a profitable small business at $3–10k MRR, or a sale. The catalog notes small SaaS sells at a 3.9x profit median on Acquire.com (2024–25).
  • Raising pushes you toward the wrong moves: a free plan for "users", more review sources, a US push into GoHighLevel's market.

Honest bottom line: investors will pass, and they'd be right. It's a business worth running only if you can reach agencies cheaply and it stays profitable at small scale.
