4. Expanded Feature Catalog (What Advisers, Compliance Officers and Generic Users Ask For)

These are the features buyers ask for, each classified with the same honesty as the stated list. Being asked for doesn't mean you should build it. Most generic demands are already met by the leaders, free.

Legend: TS = Table stakes, D = Differentiator, X = Distraction, L = Liability. Priority for the RIA wedge: P0 = v1, P1 = next, P2 = later, — = don't build.

4.1 Collection

FeatureDemand signalCategoryPriorityNotes
Request link and form (text)UniversalTSP0Must capture: current client or not, anything given in return, consent to publish with disclosures.
Client-status and compensation questions built into the formRequired by the rule for RIAsDP0The facts behind the three core disclosures. Generic tools don't ask.
Consent record per testimonial (timestamp, wording, IP)High for regulated usersDP0Also covers revocation: remove everywhere, keep the record.
Video testimonials with automatic transcriptHigh generic demandTSP1Transcript is what the CCO reviews and the flagger scans.
Audio testimonialsLowX—Famewall offers it. Nobody in this niche asks.
CRM-triggered requests (Redtail, Wealthbox, Salesforce Financial Services Cloud)Medium among RIAsDP1HiveVote advertises CRM triggers. Start with one CRM, chosen by calls.
Incentives for leaving a testimonialCommon generic tacticL—For RIAs, that's compensation, with extra disclosures and possibly a written agreement.
Reminders and follow-upsUniversalTSP0One reminder, then stop. Advisers hate pestering clients.

4.2 Compliance and records (the wedge)

FeatureCategoryPriorityNotes
CCO approval queue (approve, reject, request edits to disclosure, never to the client's words)DP0The core workflow. Every action logged.
Disclosure templates for the three core items, plus longer terms of compensation and conflictsDP0Reviewed by a securities lawyer once a year. The firm edits and owns the final wording.
Automatic flags: performance numbers, guarantees, "best", named securities, "risk-free"DP0Pattern rules first, a small model second. The CCO decides.
5-year record and export (text/video, disclosure shown, approver, dates, publish locations, removal date)DP0Maps to Rule 204-2. This is what renews.
Promoter log: written-agreement status, running 12-month total against $1,000, annual ineligible-person attestationDP0The Dec 2025 risk alert flagged split payments and missing agreements.
Oral-disclosure log (for testimonials used in calls or events)DP2Kitces notes oral disclosures need a contemporaneous record.
Third-party ratings module ("Top Advisor" lists): rater, date, compensation, questionnaire diligenceDP2Also flagged in the Dec 2025 alert. A natural add-on.
Annual review reminder: re-check every live testimonial, expire old onesDP1Gives a reason to log in between exams.
Export to archiving vendors (Smarsh, Global Relay)TSP2Integrate, don't compete.
"SEC-compliant" badge or certificateL—The SEC doesn't certify vendors.

4.3 Display

FeatureCategoryPriorityNotes
Disclosure-first widget (disclosures next to the testimonial, same prominence)DP0The visible proof. Accessible (WCAG) and fast.
Widget snapshot per publish (what exactly was shown, when)DP0Feeds the record. Examiners ask what the page looked like.
20+ layouts, carousels, masonry wallsX—Generic leaders have them. One clean layout in 3 sizes.
Social-post images and videos from testimonialsTSP2Wealthtender's Studio does this. Only with disclosures on the image.
Rich snippets / review schema for SEOX / LP2Self-serving review markup is restricted by Google (not re-verified this run). Low priority.
Website-platform plug-ins (Twenty Over Ten, FMG, Snappy Kraken, WordPress)DP1–P2Whether these platforms already have compliant testimonial blocks is unverified. A plug-in on one of them could be the main channel.

4.4 Import and third-party reviews

FeatureCategoryPriorityNotes
Google Business Profile import into the approval queueDP1Only with disclosures and approval. Never auto-publish.
One-click display of third-party reviewsL—Adoption risk for RIAs. Review-suppression risk under the FTC rule if only positive ones are shown as if they were all of them.
Imports from X, LinkedIn, G2, Trustpilot, etc.X—Generic demand. Irrelevant to RIAs.

4.5 AI

FeatureCategoryPriorityNotes
Transcription of videoTSP1Commodity APIs.
Flagging risky claimsDP0See 4.2.
AI summary of all testimonials for the CCO ("3 mention returns")DP2Useful at scale.
AI rewriting, "polishing" or translating testimonials for displayL—The published text must be the client's.
AI case-study generationX—Senja has it. Not this buyer's job.

4.6 Team, multi-firm and admin

FeatureCategoryPriorityNotes
Roles: adviser (request), CCO (approve), admin (billing)TSP0Separation of duties is the point.
Compliance-consultant console (many client firms, one login, white-label export)DP1The channel. One consultant can bring 5–30 firms.
SSO, audit log of loginsTSP1Asked for in vendor due diligence.
Security page, subprocessor list, incident-notice termsTSP0Asked for before purchase.
Billing by firm, annual invoicesTSP0Advisers prefer annual invoices.

4.7 Generic-only demands (for completeness)

FeatureCategoryNotes
Free plan with unlimited widgetsTS for generic, X hereCan't beat free.
Wall-of-love landing pageTSCommodity.
NPS surveys, brand monitoringXDifferent products.
Shopify product reviews with photosXJudge.me, Loox and others own it (not re-verified).

4.8 Net effect

Of about 40 features asked for, about 11 are real differentiators for the RIA wedge, and about 12 belong in v1 (the P0s, including table stakes). Nearly every generic-demand feature is either free elsewhere or a liability for a regulated buyer.
